Online Ordering FAQs

How do I place an order for pickup?

Orders can be placed online through the official Greensboro ABC retail site. Simply browse the inventory, add items to your cart, and proceed to checkout.

Use the Search function (magnifying glass) on the homepage to search for product names and item codes.

Can I place one order for products at multiple stores?

No. Orders are aligned to a single store for pickup. This is determined by your first product selection. When you select your first product, you must also select the store in which that product is available. All subsequent product selections for your order will be restricted to the inventory of the store you initially selected. If necessary, you can create a separate order for pickup at another store location.

Where do I pick up my order?

Your order must be picked up at the Greensboro ABC location you designated during checkout.

When will my order be ready?

Orders placed before 7:00pm: Ready within 2 hours.

Orders placed after 7:00pm: Ready by 9:00am the next business day.

Note: Greensboro ABC locations are closed on Sundays and select holidays, which will delay pickup times.

Please pick up your order within 24 hours of order submission (or by the next business day if store hours require).

What do I need to bring to pick up my order? 

To claim your purchase, you must present:

A valid, government-issued Photo ID (must show you are 21 years of age or older).

A copy of your Order Confirmation (digital or printed).

We reserve the right to refuse pickup or cancel orders if identification cannot be verified or if we suspect any illegal or fraudulent activity.

Can someone else pick up my order for me?

No. For security and compliance with ABC laws, the person who placed the order must be the one to pick it up. The name on the ID must match the name on the order.

What are the pickup hours?

Pickups can be made during standard store hours:

Monday – Saturday: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Note: Pickups are not available on Sundays or certain holidays when the store is closed. See more about holiday hours. 

Can my order be delivered?

No, orders cannot be delivered.

How long will the store hold my order?

Unless we indicate your order is unavailable, all orders must be picked up within 72 hours of the date of the order. Any orders unclaimed after 72 hours will be voided.

What if an item I ordered is out of stock?

If an item becomes unavailable after you place your order, a staff member will contact you to discuss a substitution or a refund for that specific item.

Can I request a refund or return a purchase?

Due to applicable alcohol regulations, all sales of alcoholic beverages are final unless the product is defective or incorrect. Returns are not accepted except in cases of defective or damaged products. In this case, we will accept the nearly full container and provide you with a replacement.

What if my order is incorrect or damaged?

If you receive an incorrect or damaged order, please contact us within 7 days of pickup for resolution by using the contact information provided below.

Why do some items say "Log in to see price"? 

These items are allocated items. An allocated item is a highly sought-after spirit (typically bourbon, whiskey, or scotch) that is produced in limited quantities. Because demand far outpaces supply, these products are strictly controlled. These products are not available for purchase online.

Can I order allocated items online?

No, allocated items are not permitted for online sales.

General FAQs

Are persons under the age of 21 allowed in ABC stores?

It is the policy of the Greensboro ABC Board to prohibit anyone 17, 18, 19 or 20 years of age from entering our stores. Children under the age of 17 may enter our stores, as long as they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

What are acceptable forms of ID?

In accordance with the North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Laws and Rules of North Carolina, Greensboro ABC will accept: 

A valid U.S. driver’s license 

A valid State issued ID Card 

A valid passport 

A valid U.S. Military ID. Only physical documents will be accepted, digital ID’s are not permitted.

What are my payment options?

Online orders are credit card only. This includes Master Card, Visa, Discover, and American Express. 

Apple Pay, Google Pay, After Pay, etc. are not permitted payment options at this time.

What are the normal hours of operation?

All ABC stores in Greensboro are open at 9 am and close at 9 pm. See more about holiday hours. 

Do the local ABC stores operate on Sunday and holidays?

ABC stores are closed on Sundays and specific holidays. Holidays include New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Juneteenth, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. See more about holiday hours. 

May I return or exchange a product?

No. Due to applicable alcohol regulations, all sales of alcoholic beverages are final unless the product is defective or incorrect. Returns are not accepted except in cases of defective or damaged products. In this case, we will accept the nearly full container and provide you with a replacement.

Do all ABC stores across the state have the same prices?

Distilled spirit prices are calculated by the State of North Carolina. All products sell for the same price throughout the state.

Are ABC employees employed by the state?

ABC employees are not employees of the State. The stores are self-supporting and no tax money is used to pay employees or other expenses to operate ABC stores.
